For as long as I can remember i have loved sport. Whether that be playing with my brother in the backyard or watching with dad. It has always been a huge part of my life. Which is why I always saw myself getting a job in sport however I wasn’t certain what role I would play. As i got older I decided I wanted to become a physiotherapist at a major sporting team. I worked my way through school and enrolled in a Bachelors Degree of Sport and Exercise Science at University.
The first 18 months of my degree were great, I loved it. Learning in great depth about the body and the bio-mechanics behind every movement, it was fascinating. However as the weeks went my in my fourth semester something changed. I don’t quite know what it was but i began to lose interest in my course. The love and passion I once had had vanished, it was something I could’t really explain. I began to loathe getting up each morning to sit through classes that I no longer had an interest in.
I no longer knew what I wanted to do. Since I had always seen myself becoming a physiotherapist I didn’t have a plan B, nothing to fall on. At this point I had booked a trip around Europe over Christmas with a mate of mine. Maybe this is what i needed, a break. I thought that I would come back from Europe refreshed and fall back in love with my course and continue to strive towards my goal of landing a job at a major sporting team.
However I came back from Europe just as clueless about my future as when i left. What was i going to do? Travelling around Europe made me realise one thing. I love to travel. Experiencing new placing and immersing myself in foreign cultures was amazing. So as far as I knew the only thing I loved was travelling. I began looking for careers in travel or that would be enable me to travel. I found what i wanted to do, I wanted to become an English teacher overseas.
Becoming an English teacher overseas would not only allow be to explore new places and cultures but more importantly it would allow be significantly impact the lives of children in a positive way. Learning English allows children to gain access to a better education, better employment opportunities and ultimately a better life. I created this blog as not only as a place to share my previous travel experiences and advice but more importantly I created this blog to share my journey to a better future. Ultimately my goal is to leave a everlasting impact on as many people as i can through my travels, including myself.
