Hi, my name is Kameron, I am 20 years old currently living is South-West Sydney, Australia. I am in my 3rd year studying a bachelor’s Degree in Sport and Exercise however I no longer enjoy and longing for a change. I work at a local fast food restaurant and have been there for 5 years. It is far from the best job in the world however the pay is alright and a couple of my closest friends work there. I am an avid sports fan, my favourite sporting teams are West Tigers in the NRL, FC Barcelona in soccer and Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA. I’m not sure what else to say but i’m sure you’ll learn more about me along the way.
Why This Blog?
For a while now I have always wanted to travel the world, to experience different cultures, food and lifestyles. Upon returning from 6 weeks in Europe over Christmas I began looking for somewhere to travel to next, I was already missing travelling. However due to a few too many beers in Munich and Sambuca shots in Barcelona i could not afford to travel again anytime soon. I began looking for jobs allowing me to travel and stumbled across a program that would allow me to teach English overseas with the freedom to travel.
The idea of teaching overseas is something i’d never considered before, but it gave me an idea. To create ‘An Everlasting Impact’, a blog that is much more than just a place for me to share my travel stories. An Everlasting Impact is a journey to create a better future. My goal is for my future travels to not only leave a lasting impression on me but on the people i meet along the way. My first step to achieving this would be teaching overseas. Giving children with a non-English speaking background the opportunity for a better education, employment opportunities and a chance at a better life.
2019: The Road Ahead
My first goal for 2019 is to ultimately save as much as i can, once i’m teaching I will be earning money however I will need some saving behind me to begin my adventure as flights aren’t cheap! To save as much as I can I will be looking for a new job, my current job is stable and I have been there for over 5 years however I would like a full-time job to maximise my savings. I am thinking of leaving about April/June of next year which would give me a year to save. The two place i’m looking at teaching at are Costa Rica and Thailand, they are both both great options so i’m yet to decide. I’m leaning more towards Costa Rica as being based in Central America I’d be able to travel to North and South America relatively easily.
In July of this year I will be spending a week in Queensland, Australia with friends, something i’m looking forward to. I have no concrete plans for international travel before i leave to teach however i’m looking at visiting somewhere in Asia in January with Family. I would be limited to 1 or 2 weeks so would have to choose 1 or 2 countries but I will definitely come back. Being from Australia it is pretty cheap to visit Asia compared to Europe or the Americas.
In terms of the future of this blog In 2019 I will mainly being sharing stories and travel tips from my time in Europe and more recently the South Pacific as well as travel guides for each city I have visited which will include must see sights, cheap eats and more. I am really excited for the year ahead and I hope you will join me on my Journey for a better Future.
